The system operates a fleet of 38 buses on 21 routes in the Lakeland area, including service provided for Winter Haven Area Transit to the neighboring cities of Auburndale, Winter Haven and Bartow. The system also operates paratransit service with 15 Handy buses. Citrus Connection has operated since 1982. LAMTD is financed by a property tax and by funding from federal, state and city government.

Winter Haven Area Transit (w.h.a.t.) Transito Del Area De Winter Haven - (call (863) 534-5500) The Winter Haven Area Transit (W.H.A.T.) system is a joint effort between the Board of County Commissioners and the City of Winter Haven. The W.H.A.T. is a fixed bus route service. Some of the routes are operated by the Citrus Connection Offsite Website or Webpages Icon under contract to the Board of County Commissioners.
