Henderson County Help Center Executive Director Leslie Saunders told the Athens Kiwanis Club on Tuesday that the Child Advocacy Center helps the child through that difficult time as the case works through the system, sometimes taking years to complete.

An Athens business that sells large amounts of fertilizer erupted into flames on Thursday afternoon, leading to an evacuation of the downtown area as responders fought the flames. No one was injured in the fire that was first reported at 5:43 p.m. at the Ag Services storage building on W. Larkin Street, about three blocks from the Henderson County Courthouse.
