March 23 2012 - Galveston parents warned of attempted bus stop abduction
GALVESTON, Texas — Authorities asked parents to avoid sending their children to the bus stop alone after a man offered a girl a ride Wednesday morning. Virginia Tech has sent kicker Tyler Weiss home for a curfew violation in New Orleans, where the Hokies are preparing to meet Michigan in the Sugar Bowl. Three North Carolina elementary school students and one middle school student received top honors in North Carolina's 2010 National School Bus Safety Week Poster Contest, "Be Aware - Know the Danger Zone!"
Second-grader Jennifer Sieredzki of Riverwood Elementary in Johnston, N.C., won first place in Division 1.
Sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and the Governor's Highway Safety Program, the contest's theme emphasizes to students that they should be aware of "the danger zone," the area that is at least 10 feet around the entire school bus that can be accessed |
