Started on a shoestring budget with only 3 small vans serving the lower end of the county, today ARTS operates on a 1.5 million dollar annual budget running a fleet of 12 buses with weekday service between all major population centers in the county and into downtown Sacramento. Among ARTS staffers are 4 employees whose tenure exceeds 20 years. Our longest-serving employee is Doug Axtell, ARTS' Maintenance and Safety Manager, with 26 years in the saddle. A good man to have in charge of safety, Doug has never had an accident in all those years.
