Increasing Public Transportation

Concerning the use of public transportation, the U.S. are behind Europe-Middle East-Africa and Asia-Pacific. In Hong Kong, 87 percent of the population uses public transit every day. Inhabitants of Seoul, Mexico City, Paris, Osaka and London use a lot public transit every day.

In the U.S., New York has the largest transit system, around 3.3 billion trips for 11.9 billion miles in 2008. It is followed by Chicago, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia, New Jersey, San Francisco, Atlanta and Seattle.

Time saver and energy saver

When you take the bus, you can read, listen to music, play video games on your smart phone, talk or email friends. You can do whatever you want instead of having to deal with traffic lights in your car.

Every year, 4.2 billion gallons of gasoline are saved as a result of public transportation. Every day, almost 4 million gallons of gasoline are saved.

Public Transportation reduces the nation's carbon emissions by 37 million metric tons annually equivalent to the electricity used by 4.9 million households.
Each year, public transportation use in the U.S. saves 1.4 billion gallons of gasoline. This represents almost 4 million gallons of gasoline per day.
